About the Artist

Kathryn Leitner - Biography

Kathryn’s collection of artwork is largely made up of western scenes. Her childhood on her grandparent’s ranch in central Montana left her with an appreciation of the rural lifestyle and a respect for the people and the land and animals they care so much about.

She developed an interest in art early in her life. Starting with graphite and then moving to colored pencil and oils, Kathryn continues to develop her skills with the encouragement and support of a loving family and the aid of gifted teachers and mentors.

Kathryn now resides in rural Oklahoma with her husband and son. Working in a studio near their home allows her to be near her dog and horses. She feels staying close to her subjects helps her portray a more honest and moving piece of artwork. Spending as much time as possible with local ranch families, has allowed her to depict images true to the lifestyle so many yearn to be a part of.

Several of Kathryn’s paintings have appeared on the cover of the Oklahoma Cattlemen Magazine. Her work is available at The Rusty Gables Art Gallery and the Cross Bar Gallery, in Oklahoma City, and J and J Woodshop in her home town of Kingfisher.
